Thank-you for allowing me to celebrate and remember in a positive way, the 10yr anniversary/birthday our baby Xavier who was Stillborn May 26th 2014. I was able to mark the celebration by running 10kms everyday for the month of May and in doing so raised over $5000 for the Stillbirth Foundation of Australia.
This challenge I set myself in May 2024 gave me something positive to aim for/achieve. This running goal also had a positive impact on my 2 children (and husband) as they saw me heading out the door at 5.30am most days just to tick off the 10kms before school / work / life started each day. They were able to see that anything is possible, even when I was super tired, sore, and self-doubting. I just got up each day and got it done. They also loved tracking how many donations I received, and how many people in our small community spoke to them about it. It was also a way for me to talk about Stillbirth, and many people did not know our story as we moved to Barwon Heads after we lost Xavier.
Overall, running had a hugely positive impact on not only me, as it gave me something to work towards, but also my family, friends and wider community whilst I was completing the challenge.
